SPURS LOOK FOR WIN IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY-OFF
Tottenham are aiming to overturn a 3-2 deficit tonight when they face Young Boys at White Hart Lane in the Champions League play-off second-leg. A chaotic opening 28 minutes in Switzerland last week saw the Premier League side go down 3-0 inside the opening half an hour, but goals from Sebastian Bassong and Roman Pavlyuchenko helped swing the tie back in Spurs’ favour.
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe will be available for the match but it could be his last game for a while as he is set to undergo groin surgery next week. New signing William Gallas is not eligible to play for his new club at this stage of the competition.
Having been backed at a high of 2.7 when 3-0 down in Switzerland Spurs are now just 1.25 to qualify with Betfair. The same price can be found on the north London side in the match odds market whilst Young Boys are 16.0 and the draw is 7.0.
In golf, the Johnnie Walker Championship gets underway tomorrow morning in what is the final opportunity for European players to gain Ryder Cup points. There is little chance of any player forcing their way into the top nine automatic selection places, however, a win at Gleneagles this week would give captain Colin Montgomerie plenty to think about.
Those on the fringes of the team who may harbour slight hopes of making it to Celtic Manor include Edoardo Molinari who can be backed at 20/1 with Bet365, Robert Karlsson is a 18/1 chance, Alvaro Quiros is 25/1 and Simon Dyson is also 25/1.
And finally, Ultimate Big Brother began last night after Josie Gibson was crowned the Big Brother 11 winner. And the bookmakers have made her the favourite to become the Ultimate Big Brother winner in 18 days time. The Bristolian can currently be backed at 13/8 with Stan James, Brian Dowling is the second favourite at 5/2 and Nikki Grahame third favourite at 15/2.
