Spurs vs Reading Betting Tips

We should be in a for a cracking game when Reading visit White Hart Lane to tackle an in-form Spurs in a Premiership fixture on Sunday afternoon. The Royals dished out a 3-1 beating to Martin Jol's men at the Madejski Stadium in November, but the north London sids have come on leaps and bounds since then. Spurs' current form makes them unrecognisable to the side that made such a stuttering start to the campaign when finding goals hard to come by. It's an entirely different story at present. Indeed, they've scored a staggering 27 times in their last nine in all competitions - that's an average of three goals per game - and are on the cusp of winning five consecutive league games for the first time since Boxing Day 2004. The fans must be wondering why their heroes weren't able to produce this sort of form at the start of the season. However, they enjoyed cracking runs in both the Carling and FA Cup's, are through to the quarter-final stage of the Uefa Cup, and are a respectable seventh in the Premiership, a point ahead of Reading. Steve Coppell has been getting a great tune out of his charges in their first season of Premiership football. And while their recent form hasn't been as good as they would have hoped - they've failed to win in their last five in all competitions - the Berkshire-based club have proved themselves more than worthy of top-flight status. Hossam Ghaly has been hit with the flu so will miss the game, along with the quartet of Ledley King, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Danny Murphy and Anthony Gardner. The Royals have fewer selection headaches with right-back Graeme Murty being the only notable absentee. However, as Spurs have proved with their excellent recent run of form, they have enough strength in depth within their squad to cope and, all things considered, I can't envisage anything less than victory for the home side. Given that Reading's exertions appear to be catching up with them and, conversely, Spurs are now firing on all cylinders, I have a feeling that it may well turn out to be a comfortable victory. As such, I reckon there's value in opting for Tottenham -1 in the handicap result market at a tempting 47/20 with expekt. This may seem a tad risky given that Reading have goals in them. But with momentum on their side and the goals flowing, I am confident Spurs will manage to win by two clear goals at least. Verdict - 1pt Tottenham -1 in the handicap result betting @ 47/20 (expekt)
