Stan James German Bundesliga Preview - Week Two
Stan James German Bundesliga Preview - Week Two Arminia Bielefeld??..2/1Draw???????.12/5Hamburg?????11/10 Bielefeld had the daunting task of taking on Bremen away, and although they lost 5-2, they did hold their own in the first half. It was a plucky performance and they'll have taken a little heart from it I'm sure. But every game is going to be tricky this season and they find themselves taking on Hamburg who destroyed Nurnberg 3-0 last week. On the face of it you have to come to the conclusion that Hamburg will have the upper hand here. B.Leverkusen???11/5Draw??????..11/5Bayern Munich??11/10 This should be a cracker. Both sides have started their campaigns with convincing wins. Bayern cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to Monchengladbach with Mackay bagging a brace late on. Leverkusen thrashed new boys Frankfurt 4-1 away. But there is no doubt that the Champions Bayern are rightful favourites for this match as you might have guessed. It's whether Leverkusen can catch them cold and surprise them. It's an away banker if you take the view that Bayern will simply have too much class for them. B.Dortmund????6/4Draw??????23/10Schalke??????6/4 This is a difficult one to call because it's a local derby and passions will be intense. Schalke dominated their opening game against Kaiserslautern but only managed to grab the points with two late goals. The win though was well deserved. Dortmund will have a huge home crowd on hand to spur them on, after earning a well deserved point at Wolfsburg last week. These are two big clubs and in the heady atmosphere of Westfalenstadion it could go either way. B.Monchengladbach??11/10Draw???????12/5Wolfsburg????..2/1 When you face Bayern Munich away in your first match, it's pretty tough, and Gladbach's 3-0 defeat flattered the champions a bit. Two late goals from Mackay sealed their fate. So they should be going into their first home match against Wolfsburg with a bullish air. Wolfsburg scored a late equaliser to share the spoils in their opening match. If you were backing the draw you're probably going for the right option? Hertha Berlin???.2/5Draw??????..3/1E.Frankfurt????13/2 Hertha were kicking themselves last week as they managed to throw away a 2-0 lead away to Hannover. They are going to look to put that behind them when they take on new boys Frankfurt, who had a rude awakening last week by Leverkusen at home. Bayer hammered them 1-4. On the face of it, a banker home win and we wouldn't disagree. Kaiserslautern???.8/11Draw??????.12/5Duisberg?????.7/2 Kaiserslautern were a bit flattered by the 2-1 loss at Schalke. They were under the cosh for most of the game. But this week should be easier as they take on newcomers Duisberg at home. But they won't necessarily have it all there own way. Duisberg worked hard for their opening day point with Stuttgart and if they continue to frustrate teams they'll get a few good results. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them getting a draw here for starters. Nurnberg?????6/5Draw??????.12/5Hannover????..15/8 Nurnburg got stuffed by Hamburg 3-0 last week and Hannover scrambled a late equaliser against Hertha, so both of these teams will be fired up to put things right. It's a difficult one to call but you suspect that Hannover will have taken more from their first match and will just have the edge. Mainz??????9/4Draw??????12/5W.Bremen????.Evs Mainz are a hard working outfit, but they are going to have to battle hard to get something out of this game. Werder Bremen have already scored 5 in their opener last week, and will see this as a great opportunity to build on that. If they want to challenge Bayern for the Title then these are the sort of games they have to win. Mainz though are a tricky team to play against and they could well get a point. Stuttgart?????.1/2Draw??????.11/4Cologne?????.5/1 Stuttgart are one of the fancied teams to do well this season, and these games should mean three points. And I don't think they'll slip up here. Put this down as a banker home bet, despite the fact that Cologne won their first match against Mainz. They scored a disputed penalty very late on, and I suspect they won't be let off the hook this time.
