STOKE VS TOTTENHAM LATEST PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS

Second season syndrome doesn’t appear to be a term that is in the vocabulary of folk living on the banks of the river Trent. Stoke’s exemplary home record kept them comfortably afloat last season and it looks like doing exactly the same this year. They’ve already put a dent in Manchester City and Aston Villa’s push for a fourth place finish and today they could do the very same to Tottenham.

Stoke have lost just four home games all season, three of which came against the league’s trio of title chasers, and have accrued two thirds of their points tally on home soil. All signs point towards a difficult game for Spurs and the news that Jermain Defoe will be out for a number of weeks is a striking blow to their push for a Champions League place. Although Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko are in good form Harry Redknapp’s ability to rotate these three on a game by game basis was an important string to their bow.
All things considered the price on Tottenham – 2.3 (11/8) with Betfair – looks a little too short to me and I would suggest a lay at that price to get your betting on this match started. If you prefer to back selections then the draw at 3.4 (12/5) looks the way forward given Stoke’s record of taking a point from Manchester City and Aston Villa and coming seconds away from doing the same against Liverpool.
Stoke home games are often a little tricky to predict in terms of the number of goals. The common approach is to automatically assume that fewer than 2.5 is a guarantee, however, Stoke home games average 2.467 goals per game which suggests that when odds of 2.24 (5/4) are available on Over 2.5 goals, as they are here, then the value is in backing this selection. I have a hunch – and that is all it is – that this one could be a high scoring affair, so over 2.5 is the selection here.
Another important game in the race for fourth place, but I think this one could hand back to those chasing Spurs for that coveted spot.
