Sunday Premier League Tips PT 1

Entering the home stretch of March can often see teams start to stake their claim and play above themselves or begin fading out when things have just started to get serious.
Manchester United took a symbolic step ahead of Everton by managing to topple Crystal Palace away 2-0. In years past, picking up three points in matches like this were a mere formality, but this one had United fans looking around ominously as things were still scoreless coming back out for the second half. Palace took their chances but were unable to score and United saw both Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney step up with strikes to seal the victory.
United just put Rooney through, quite possibly keeping him at the club until the latter stages of his career, and he was able to redeem their faith by scoring a real belter of a goal. With whispers of Van Persie preferring a return switch back to Arsenal, you have to hope that Rooney keeps on ticking like this.
Chelsea were the beneficiaries of a little bit of late luck as Tim Howard scored an extremely important own goal that saw Chelsea take all three points from Roberto Martinez’s high-flying Everton side. Moyes will have finally enjoyed leapfrogging his old club into sixth spot - though it must be admitted that they are still level on points with United only ahead on goal difference.
The Blues were able to go top of the table thanks to that victory and they remain just a point ahead of Arsenal and a full three points now ahead of Manchester City. The Citizens, who were thoroughly bested in Europe in mid-week, were able to get the better of Stoke City and that’s going to put them in good shape heading into the League Cup Final fixture with Sunderland next weekend.
