Superbowl 2005 - who will win?
Superbowl PicksFive of the eight division winners are now known for the Superbowl 2005. From the AFC, New England, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis have clinched, and it can only be a matter of time before San Diego join them. In the NFC, Philadelphia and Atlanta can't be caught. Green Bay should eventually crowned champions in the NFC North, if only because of the collapse of the Minnesota Vikings. As for the NFC West, Seattle finally decided to get their act together and are now a game ahead of St.Louis, although the Rams need only have the same number of wins as the Seahawks after winning both meetings. The wild-card picture is a little clearer after the week 14 results. Although not totally out of contention, Cincinnati's play-off hopes took a hit after their loss in New England. The Bengals can now finish only with a best record 9-7. In week 15, Cincinnati have the opportunity to end the play-off hopes of another franchise when Buffalo are in town. The Bills are one of the league's hottest teams, winning six of their last seven, outscoring their last four opponents 154-65.Buffalo finish the season with the Bengals and San Francisco on the road, before a home encounter against Pittsburgh. It will be interesting to see how Cincinnati react to the high probability of missing out on the play-offs. Buffalo are a 150/1 to win Super Bowl having been as big as 500/1 only a few weeks back. Whether the Bills do claim a wildcard will depend on the fortunes of others. Division rivals NYJ fell to 9-4 in week 14, and their next game is against Seattle who may now be much harder to beat after the Seahawks morale-boosting win in Minnesota. The Jets must also still play number one seed chasing New England Patriots, and St.Louis Rams on the road in the final week. Playing postseason football is not yet assured for the Jets, and this reflected by their 40/1 best price to win Super Bowl.Other play-off contenders from the AFC include Baltimore, who face two very tough road games in Indianapolis and Pittsburgh - both of who are after the best possible seeding. In the case of the Colts, Peyton Manning has the small matter of a TD record to break. The Ravens are a best price 50/1 to go the distance. Denver also don't have a particularly easy finish to the year with trips to Kansas City and Tennessee, and finishing at home to Indianapolis. The Broncos at 8-5 most likely need to win two more games to be fairly sure of the play-offs. Finally in the AFC Jacksonville can't be discounted, although they have a difficult match in Green Bay next week. Failure to win at Lambeau Field would likely spell the end for the Jags.Turning our attention to the NFC Wildcard race, and the first word has to go to the Carolina Panthers. After starting the season 1-7, the Panthers are now officially in the sixth seed spot after winning five straight. There is still much work to be done though with games against divisional rivals, Tampa Bay, Atlanta and New Orleans to come. Whether any of the NFC South teams have anything to play for or not, they are sure to make life tough for the Panthers regardless. The Bucs and Saints are not yet out of the picture - the two franchises meet next week.Have a free bet on the 2005 Superbowl with Bet365, VCBet or Pinnacle Sports
