The Ashes - Betting Choice Betting Analysis
After a couple of meaningless Tests against Bangladesh, a whole bunch of one-day Internationals, and then yet more One-Dayers - the time has finally come for the Ashes to begin. In just under a week England and Australia will commence battle at Lords in the most eagerly awaited Test series for many a year. The best in the world against the second best team. It should be a cracking series. The big question is can the Poms finally beat the Aussies after enduring so many beatings. Before looking at the series odds, it has to be said that in true British style, we have done our upmost to give the tourists every chance of returning home victorious. Beginning a five Test series at the height of Summer on pitches familiar for the Australians isn't excatly what most nations would do. One might even compare it to Wimbledon when just as we find a potential winner in Tim Henman, the Tennis authorities decide to slow down the courts giving the British number one little chance. For whatever reason in this country, we are very good at doing our best to assist the opposition rather than make life as difficult as possible. Furthermore, it would appear based on the past few One Day Internationals, three vital Australian players in Ponting, Gilchrest and Fleming look to have played themselves into form at the crucial moment. Meanwhile, our frontline Test bowlers have suffered two heavy losses. Hardly great for the confidence of the team.Yet for all the help provided this Summer so far, this will not be the standard 3-1 or 4-1 thrashing associated with recent Ashes contests. First under Nasser Hussain and then Michael Vaughan, England have been transformed into a quality Test outfit. At the sametime, Australia have continued their World domination, although looking at the age of some of their players, it wouldn't come as a massive shock to see one or two of their elder statesman break down with such a demanding Test schedule. That said the bookies are in no doubt who they believe will win the Ashes.Australia are the clear odds on favourites with a best price 1/2, while England are quoted at 3/1. Neither quote makes much appeal, and nor does the 6/1 for the outright draw. Given how both teams enjoy playing fast aggressive cricket, and the anticipated good weather over the next eight weeks, four or five positive results seem likely. On the assumption we expect England to continue their fine work from the past few years, winning more than the standard one Test is not an unrealistic proposition. This as far as I am concerned brings three possible Series correct score results into play, namely 3-2 (Australia 16/1), 2-2 (Draw 8/1), and England 3-2 (22/1). The advice is a sizeable investment in the 2-2 draw, followed by a decent stake on Australia to prevail 3-2, and lastly a smaller bet on England to come out on top.See all our free bets on the Ashes
