TIGER WOODS VS RORY MCILROY AT THE 2010 RYDER CUP BETTING ODDS
With the war of words between Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy dominating the latest headlines out of Celtic Manor, the betting markets are starting to heat up as many punters anticipate these two being drawn against each other in an epic Ryder Cup showdown.
McIlroy lit the spark when he insisted that he would love to play against Tiger Woods and effectively implied that this is the best time to line up against the now-controversial world #1. Woods fired back that he would love to take on McIlroy as well and you reckon that there will be no love lost between those two.
The European odds to win the Ryder Cup are trading at around 7/10 and popular Irish bookmaker Paddy Power HAS ALREADY PAID OUT ON EUROPE TO WIN THE RYDER CUP. That’s right- if you backed Europe to win last week- you’ve already been paid out before a single ball has even been struck. They price the USA at 6/4 while a tie trades at 11/1.
If you’re looking to back either Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy then you have a number of different betting options.
Tiger Woods is the favourite for top wildcard point scorer with Paddy Power pricing him at a 9/4 listing. Luke Donald is available at 7/2 while Padraig Harrington is trading at 5/1. Woods is also a slim favourite to be named top US Points Scorer and he’s trading at 4/1 to secure that. Jim Furyk is priced at 9/2 while Steve Stricker is at 5/1. Phil Mickelson is well-priced at 13/2.
Rory McIlroy is a co-favourite to be named top European points scorer and you can back him at 5/1 alongside Martin Kaymer. McIlroy also gets the tip as top Irish point scorer at 5/4 with Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington both listed at 2/1 prices.
Rory McIlroy does get the edge for top combined points scorer with a 9/1 price- that makes him a co-favourite alongside Martin Kaymer. Tiger Woods is trading at 10/1 in that market. McIlroy and Martin Kaymer are also co-favourites in the top rookie points scorer.
Tiger Woods over/under on total points is set at 2.5 with the over favoured at 4/5, the under trades at 10/11. McIlroy’s odds are at 4/6 for the 2.5 or over. The under is priced at 11/10.
