TONY ADAMS LEADS SACK RACE BETTING
After the transfer window has slammed shut and things settle down again in the English Premier League, I expect a significant amount of attention to be paid to Tony Adams and his overall lack of a plan, confidence and managerial impetus at Pompey. Things have really gone from bad to worse since he took over for Harry Redknapp and this weekend's result leaves them languishing just a point off the drop zone. Adams was a talisman as a player- an inspiration for Arsenal fans and England supporters and he also helped usher in the mentality of a staunchly brave central defender that you see in the next generation of players like John Terry. Adams influence over English football and central defenders can't be understated- the question remains however, just how good of a manager is this guy?The answer appears to be not much. If he plans on having a lengthy career in football management then it clearly needs to be honed further in the lower leagues and until he can get a team out of the Championship up to the Premier League, then question marks will remain over his head. Many observers didn't initially give Gianfranco Zola much of a chance at West Ham, especially as his first few games went poorly. However, it appears as though he's turned the corner and the team are comfortably in mid-table and grinding out results. Adams needs to do something and he needs to do it quick. He has quality players at his disposal and being sandwiched between Stoke and Newcastle at the moment really makes things uncomfortable for the formal Arsenal man. I am backing Tony Adams to be the next manager to be sacked at Betfair, which pays 1.66.
