TOTTENHAM ATTEMPT TO HUMBLE WEST BROM- BETTING ODDS AND TIPS
To call West Bromwich Albion’s fixture list on their return to the Premiershipcruel would be the understatement of the year. Having had to face Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the opening four matches of the season would be enough to drive most team mascots around the bend.
With that said, the side has done better than expected- impressing at Anfield in their last league game with Roberto di Matteo's team look a lot more equipped in their quest to stop their yo-yo existence between the Premiership and Championship experienced thus far.
However, they are taking on a team that last year finished in the top four with a budget and talented squad at their disposal. Granted Spurs might have shown a little inconsistency to the season thus far...but things will come right...they are too good for it not to.
From a squad perspective Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp must be cursing at Michael Dawson and striker Jermain Defoe both suffering injuries whilst heeding the call of national duty. However, new signings William Gallas and Rafael van der Vaart are set to start and bring undoubted pedigree to the side.
There seems to be some inconsistency at the bookies over this one with by far the best value on the game being found on Betfair placing Tottenham to win at 2.2, with West Brom at 3.8. One must feel that even with the injuries sustained that 'Arry's boys will know that they need to clinch this match to keep their season on track.
With Jermaine Defoe out of the running, one would assume that Peter Crouch's 'robot' is currently being oiled up with him set at 2.75 to score at anytime, and 7.0 to open the scoring- great value for money. Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane are evenly set at 2.87 to score.
On the West Brom end Fortune, Odemwingie and Bednar are all at 3.75- it seems a lucky spin of the wheel for the Baggies
Half Time/Full Time scenario betting is also looking good on Betfair with a Draw/Tottenham result netting 6.0, and the very likely Tottenham to win both halves at a juicy 3.65.
Score predictions are through the roof on this one with a Spurs 0-1 win at 9.6, and a 0-2 win at 12.5.With West Brom currently on the wrong side of the goal difference table, it seems unlikely that they will be pounding them in this afternoon, however they are a side out to prove a point- so a 1-2 result is not unfathomable at 10 even.
Something to look out for in today's match up, besides some good old fashioned footy, will be West Brom fans show of solidarity to Osaze Odemwingie to counter the racist slurs displayed at the Nigeria striker's former club Lokomotiv Moscow last month. West Brom's banner will read "Thanks Lokomotiv" and is accompanied by a picture of Odemwingie celebrating his winner on his debut against Sunderland last month.
Spurs will undoubtedly also be showing their support in this regard...but make no mistake...this is where the solidarity will end as Tottenham seek to prove that last season was no fluke.
