Tottenham v Chelsea Betting Preview

Chelsea go to White Hart Lane this Sunday afternoon knowing that maximum points would put them back on the top of the Premier League, but Spurs can move to within a point of their opponents if they win.

Having got off to one of the best starts in Premier League history Chelsea are now stuttering their way towards Christmas. The Blues have only one win – at home to the hapless MSK Zilina – in their last six games, a run of form that has heaped pressure on manager Carlo Ancelotti over the past month.

The Italian has confessed great concern over his side’s recent results and performances and the admission that his side have lost their ‘fear factor’ is a telling point.

"I am worried yes, because we haven't won a lot of games. The second half was totally wrong. We have to do better," said Ancelotti after his side drew 1-1 with Everton last weekend.

Conversely, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and his players will be in buoyant mood after securing top spot in their Champions League group and extending their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

Chelsea haven’t won at White Hart Lane since 2005 and are the 13/8 favourites to end that sequence this Sunday. Spurs are 7/4 to continue their unbeaten run with a win over the champions and 5/2 to get a point.

Frank Lampard could make his long awaited return to the Chelsea squad but may have to settle for a place on the bench to begin with. So often he has been The Blues’ saviour in the past and he is 3/1 to score against Uncle Harry’s team this weekend.

With games against Manchester United then Arsenal following this one Chelsea need to find a way of arresting their slide sooner rather than later. If they don’t then they could be playing catch-up following the conclusion of the busy Christmas period.
