Tottenham v Liverpool Betting Preview
- By Jaymes Monte on November 27, 2010 15:00 GMTTottenham are looking to record four consecutive victories for the first time this season with a win at home to Liverpool this Sunday.
Following Spurs’ stunning comeback victory away to Arsenal last weekend manager Harry Redknapp claimed that his side were capable of winning the Premier League this season. Now his players must prove that they were not the words of a delusional man.
Such are the fine margins in the Premier League this season that Liverpool would go above Tottenham if they were to win by 2 or more goals this Sunday. Considering the poor start that The Reds endured it is perhaps slightly surprising that by the close of play this weekend they could be above a side who consider themselves title contenders.
However, Liverpool have managed just one away victory in the league this season and have lost on each of their last three visits to White Hart Lane. So the omens are not good for Roy Hodgson’s men.
The bookmakers have priced Tottenham as the favourites to win this one and they are available to back at odds of 11/10 with most firms. A second away win of the season for Liverpool is 5/2 and the draw is a 12/5 shot.
The return to action of Jermain Defoe has been a timely one for Spurs and he could be set to make his first start in over two months this weekend.
"The stage is set for him. Defoe looks as if he is back to his best. He can take us forward and could push us right into the title race and who knows what in Europe," said Redknapp on the striker’s return.
At 11/2 the bookmakers fancy him to be the payer to break the deadlock at The Lane this weekend, and with Rafael van der Vaart a major doubt he may just need to step up to the plate if his manager’s ambitions are to be realised.
