Tottenham vs Arsenal: Preview, Odds and Betting Tips - 15/01/2023 (Premier League)

Can Arsenal maintain their title charge?

Will Tottenham stage a famous win?

It is here and it is perfect! For Arsenal fans, that is.

Another North London derby that could be one for the books is about to go down and the excitement is palpable.

For Arsenal fans, that is.

The reason that statement is being repeated is because of two reasons, the first being where both teams are on the table and the points gap between them, and the second being the fact that Arsenal could pull the double in the Premier League over Tottenham Hotspur for the first time in what seems like forever.

Arsenal are among the highest flying teams in all of Europe this season, having shaken off two-and-a-half years of confusion under Mikel Arteta to find their rhythm and challenge for the Premier League title as they used to in the 90s.

The turnaround has caught everyone by surprise, most especially Spurs fans who, though not supporting the most successful team in England, have found solace in their eternal rivals' suffering in the past decade.

Both teams are about to clash with Spurs in a precarious position and Arsenal in inspired form. A look at their form guides will show how this game could go.

Odds could differ now.

Form Guide: Tottenham
Conte is less than a year into his contract at Spurs and has been both a hero and a villain to fans of the club. The players, however, swear by his playing style and this had led to continuous backing from the club's decision makers.

However, his style has seen Harry Kane lose his usual sharpness and despite the former Arsenal academy kid being only second to the monstrous Erling Haaland in Premier League goals for the season, it has also seen him less and less involved in areas of attack.

They struggle to kill off games and concede a lot of set pieces, which could be an avenue for clubs to take advantage of them. Luckily, the have sturdy defenders who are good enough to deal with those threats.

Conte's play style also depends a lot on wingback movement and this has been a challenge for the Italian since joining the club. While he is flexible with how his side attacks, most of his style requires overlapping fullbacks who can create chances ok or off the ball.

Facing off against an Arsenal who have found a style of football that is balanced could lead to another dribbling, but this time, in front of their own fans.

Form Guide: Arsenal
Mikel Arteta's side are pacy and solid in both defence and attack and have mastered the art of killing off games early.

They have also developed some steel for their backbone as they are able to claw their way back trom defeat to snatch victory.

They are playing the most balanced football at the moment but it is not without its lapses, especially in defence where Gabriel Magalhaes is prone to bad decisions and the fullbacks sometimes get too distracted with attacking.

Their attack, on the other hand, shows no indecisiveness about their game. Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus before his injury, Eddie Nketiah and Martin Ødegaard have never been shy to shoot at goal or make a daring run or pass.

They put Spurs to the sword playing this exact same way last time around and will very well be keeping up their style as they head into the second Premier League North London derby.

Conte, however, is a man who knows how to halt the momentum of high flying teams so he will see this as a chance to get Spurs up and running again, especially in front of the home fans.

How the match could go
Despite the promise of a thriller, both fans will do well to prepare for a goalless encounter for a few reasons.

One is Antonio Conte's penchant for ultra-defensive tactics when in a bind. Arsenal could find themselves playing like they did against Newcastle on January 3rd when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

However, they remain the favourites to score first and win the game if any goals or a winner should come out of the game.

Betting Predictions

Arsenal win or draw

Arsenal are the favourites as stated based on form and their results in the last five games leading up to this one. And as stated, Conte will not want to lose to Arsenal in front of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The Gunners will be chasing glory while riding the waves of their great form up to the game, which gives them more wind in their sails to battle out a win, however. William Hill are offering odds of 1/2 (1.50) for this to happen.

Under 2.5 goals
Spurs have managed to keep games within this scoreline in their last few matches and for this reason, we predict that their grudge match against their North London rivals will see a similar scoreline.

William Hill are offering odds of 17/20 (1.85) for under three goals to be scored and it’s worth a shout.

Martinelli to score
Gabriel Martinelli is at the top of his game at the moment and is playing with full confidence like never before. His pace will surely cause problems for Spurs at the back and he is no doubt one of the top shouts to get at least a goal.

All odds are via William Hill and all info valid as at the time of writing.
