TOTTENHAM VS. FC TWENTE- SPURS SQUAD AND ODDS
Tottenham play host to Dutch champions FC Twente on Wednesday in what the bookies are expecting to be a match in heavily in favour of the Whites
Tottenham are stretched thin on the defensive front, with only one recognised centre-back in Sebastien Bassong
Williams Gallas, Ledley King (both groin), Michael Dawson (knee and ankle) and Younes Kaboul (hamstring) are all out of the clash nursing injuries.
On the attacking end, England striker Jermain Defoe also misses out with ankle ligament damage.
Spurs fans will be happy to note that while this might shift most managers to focus a lot on their defence, that Harry Redknapp has already said his side will be looking to attack in order to seal their first Champions League win.
As reported by the BBC, Redknapp stated;"We have to go for it," stated Redknapp. "Getting a win is all important, if we get a win it sets us up nearly nicely. The group is wide open on one point each at the moment.
Tottenham squad: Gomes, Cudicini, King, Hutton, Bale, Bassong, Corluka, Jenas, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone, Lennon, Palacios, Kranjcar, Bentley, Van der Vaart, Dos Santos, Crouch, Keane, Pavyluchenko, Pletikosa.
This game, which also marks the first Champions League game ever played at White Hart lane, is being considered by bookies as going heavily in favour of the hosts.
Paddypower are putting Spurs as favourites art 1.72, with the Dutch contingent coming in at 5.0
Many would consider with Spurs’ current topsy-turvy form of late that a bet on the outright win might present too much risk.
However, Spurs are a good side at home, which does present a great goal scorer scenario. William Hill put Roman Pavlyuchenko as the favourite to score here at 2.2, with Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane both at 2.5
However, FC Twente are no slouches themselves having held Inter Milan to a draw in their last match. Luuk De Jong is most definitely worth a punt at an enticing 3.75
Spurs are a great side on their day, however this season have been the most hold and cold outfit in the Premiership.
The level of football being played in the Champions League is not for the faint of heart, and unless Spurs come out and dominate tomorrow, could very well see their hopes of making the next round extinguished.
Betting Tip: Peter Crouch to score at 2.5
