TOTTENHAM VS FC TWENTE- SPURS SQUAD AND PREDICTIONS
White Hart Lane plays host to Spurs’ first ever home Champions League fixture this evening, welcoming FC Twente in what could be a rather telling 90 minutes for the North Londoners
After throwing away a healthy lead in their Champions League opener against Werder Bremen two weeks ago, Tottenham have to pick up three points against FC Twente this evening...no questions asked.
Spurs have been the opitimy of hot-and-cold this season, struggling to find any real momentum, whilst showing moments of brilliance.
However, in Europe Redknapp's men have looked more impressive, having convincingly beaten Young Boys in the qualifying rounds, before notching up 2 goals against a formidable opponent in Werder Bremen
Spurs will also take comfort in knowing that FC Twente are not the same formidable force that won the Dutch league last season.
Tottenham (from): Gomes, Cudicini, King, Hutton, Bale, Bassong, Corluka, Jenas, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone, Lennon, Palacios, Kranjcar, Bentley, Van der Vaart, Dos Santos, Crouch, Keane, Pavyluchenko, Pletikosa
Redknapp will be struggling on the defensive front with defensive quintet Jonathan Woodgate, Younes Kaboul, Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Ledley King all missing out to due injury
On the goalkeeping front, Carlo Cudicini could continue in goal should Heurelho Gomes still be struggling with his groin injury
England striker Jermain Defoe (ankle) is still not fit to take part. Meanwhile, FC Twente will be without left-back Bart Buysse as he struggle to recover from an injured ankle ligament
Despite the team's injury crisis, Redknapp has let it be known that Spurs will attack tonight as they seek their first ever Champions League win
Betfair are putting Spurs as favourites tonight offering a rather enticing 1.9 to FC Twente's 5.0 even
William Hill offer the pick of the goalscorer odds today, putting Roman Pavlyuchenko to open for Spurs at 5.5- a great bet against a struggling side.
Also look out for Peter Crouch on this one, as if his robot comes into play you will see odds of 2.5
For Twente Dutchman Luuk De Jong is tops to score at 3.75, with South African midfielder Bernard Parker one to watch at a lucrative 6.0
Although this would normally make for a fairly well balanced tussle, the Dutch contingent just don’t seem to be clicking this season, and will struggle to do so at a pressure cooker venue such as White Hart Lane
Spurs should win this one tonight to send North London into hysterics
Betting Tip: Crouch to score at 2.5
