TOTTENHAM VS. WEST HAM- SPURS FAVOURITES TO WIN
Spurs travel east this afternoon to take on London rivals West Ham United at Upton Park.
With the Hammers sitting stone last on the log, many might consider this an easy win for Spurs, however, remember...this is Tottenham- the most hot and cold team in the league.
This, coupled with the fact that the Hammers have picked themselves up from a dismal start to the campaign, and shown some resurgent form over the last seven days, have made this one a lot tighter to call.
Goals from summer signings Piquionne and Victor Obinna ensured that West Ham will indeed be in the draw for the fourth round of the Carling Cup, which is already a step further in the bragging rights than that of Spurs.
On the other end of the spectrum Tottenham’s nervous and unconvincing start to the season, followed by an emphatic loss by arch-rivals Arsenal during the week have shown a team to be wary of...something that Redknapp will ensure doesn’t continue this afternoon.
Spurs will take some momentum into this clash under the knowledge that they have clinched convincing victories on their previous two visits to Upton Park.

Despite the overall gap on the Premiership log, Spurs have only managed to score 3 away goals this season so far, and are therefore odds on to score low today.
At William Hill a 1-0 Spurs win will find odds of 7/1, with a 2-0 win at 10/1
Taking into account that West Ham have only scored 3 goals this season, a Hammers win at 1-0 is at 10/1, with a 2-1 win at 11/1.
Roman Pavlyuchenko is favoured to open proceedings this afternoon at 5/1 with Peter Crouch worth a punt at 6/4
For the Hammers, Frederic Piquionne is favoured to find the net at 11/4 and hopefully end the Upton park goal drought
With the past week proving that West Ham are indeed capable of the big occasion, many of the Upton park faithful will be looking to today's game to underline just that
However, Spurs are desperate to find some form of continuity, especially heading into a European clash next week, and today could go a long way in achieving just that.
This game will be hard fought, however one must assume that, with the more lethal strikeforce, that Spurs will walk away convincing winners
