Toulouse on course for Heineken hat-trick
Bookies VC Bet remain as strong as ever about Toulouse's chances as the Heineken Cup heads into the third round of group matches. Fabien Pelous' side have opened their campaign with two wins and are the competition's outstanding team by some distance according to VC Bet's rugby union compiler Nick Wilson."They are such a strong outfit in every department it is hard to find any weaknesses in them," said Wilson. "They are without question very worthy favourites."Toulouse have won Europe's elite club competition on two occasions and were only denied a record three wins by Rob Howley's late try in last year's final against Wasps. The French take on Northampton at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday.Of the other teams at the top of the betting Wilson said he expected Munster and Wasps to progress to latter stages of the tournament. "Munster and Wasps look best equipped to challenge for honours."Munster have been doing very well in the Celtic league without playing their best players and that suggests they have plenty of strength in depth. "With players like Christian Cullen and Ronan O'Gara the Irish are capable of beating anyone."The fact that Lawrence Dallaglio and Matt Dawson have now retired from international rugby can be good for Wasps' cause. "Their freshness will be vital if they are to post a strong challenge."At longer odds Wilson said Bath could surprise one or two of the more fancied teams."I'd give them a small chance because they have gradually improved throughout the season."They will need a bit of luck with injuries but if they can field their best players every week they can go well."Heineken Cup outrights:Toulouse 7/2Munster 13/2Stade Francais 13/2Leinster 7/1Wasps 7/1Leicester 9/1Biarritz 12/1Perpignan 12/1Gloucester 20/1Northampton 25/1Newcastle 33/1Bath 33/1Castres 40/1Gwent Dragons 66/1Go to VCBet Now and claim a fifty pound free bet!
