Benfica vs Celtic is probably going to be the most closely-watched fixture in the UK and Ireland thanks to the fact that Celtic may just be able to do the impossible after having already seemingly done it a few weeks ago when disposing of Barcelona in a 1-0 victory that left even Rod Stewart in tears. Both teams are still eligible to slot into the next stage and Benfica are getting the edge from the bookmakers to at least win this one. The Portuguese side are trading at 1/2 to get the win and they’re a tricky team to face at home, while Celtic are trading at a hefty 6/1 price to get the away win and seal progression to the next stage.
As it currently stands, Celtic are ahead by three points in the group so if Benfica win they will want to run up the score and take advantage of goal difference. With Barcelona likely to win against Spartak Moscow, you can expect this one to be a straight shoot out for second place.
Even the draw, which trades at 3/1, would work nicely for Celtic.
Manchester United travel to Galatasaray and they have been trimmed by the bookmakers earlier today with Galatasaray eased to 21/20 from a 10/11 price. United are now available at a 12/5 price even though they are bringing what looks to be a youth team, having already secured their progress to the next stage.
A 13/5 price is out there on the draw and there’s a lot to like about that wager as United’s next generation boasts plenty of talent and the Galatasaray players may not know much about them.
