Tuesday Champions League Betting Preview Part 2

Manchester City really can’t seem to figure the Champions League out and they’re facing off against Borussia Dortmund, the German Champions, in an away fixture today. The bookmakers have them priced as high as 12/5 for the victory that would do little to satisfy their thirst for knock-out stage progress. They are bottom of their group, largely courtesy of three draws at home, and while it may have been a tough line up to face (Real Madrid and Ajax are the other two sides in their group) they remain winless - and that remains a problem for such a big-spending side.

Borussia Dortmund are trading at even money to get the result but they have little to play for here, having already topped their group undefeated at home and only conceding one goal in the two fixtures. The draw is 11/4 and that tells you something about just how much City are up against it here.
A Europa League spot remains a possibility for Mancini’s men but they’re dependent on results going their way in the other fixture today. In addition to a City victory, Ajax must beat or draw Real Madrid (at a price of 8/1) in order to go through.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s side are heavily-favoured with a slim 1/3 price tag to get the outright result. The draw sits at 4/1 and that’s where things get interesting - City have a superior goal differential to Ajax and are only a single point behind them. Should City draw their match and Ajax lose theirs, City would go through to the Europa League on goal difference.
Dinamo Zagreb face off at home against Dynamo Kiev and this one looks to be favouring the visitors as Kiev trade just a shade above evens at 11/10. Zagreb trade at 5/2 with the draw available at 23/10.
Arsenal face off against Olympiacos away and the Gunners have already secured progression to the next stage so they have little to play for here. The Greek side are already through to the Europa League thanks to Montepellier sitting on a single point. Look for the home team to want to put on a bit of a show for their fans - things aren’t necessarily that good at Arsenal right now and the Champions League remains a bright spot. That might also motivate players. Arsenal fans who really believe will enjoy tucking into that 11/4 price but the draw might be the thinking man’s wager here. It trades at 12/5.
VERDICT: Ars v Oly Draw @ 12/5 x Milan @ 6/4 = 7.5
