Tuesday Champions League Betting Tips
- By A.J. Ryder on October 22, 2013 18:24 GMTThere are a few interesting Champions League fixtures kicking off today as we get things underway for the next stage of the competition. A few clashes catch the eye but it seems to be more of a day full of workmanlike fixtures that have an obvious favourite facing an away fixture.

The marquee match-up is obviously AC Milan vs Barcelona and the Catalan club are going in as the significant 4/7 favourites. The Italian side can be backed at 5/1 and they do boast several quality matchwinners on that team so perhaps that is a bit of an overlay. Barcelona are looking good but not quite as confident as they have been in recent years and this might be one of those match-ups where it catches up with them over the long run.
The draw is also worth a look at 14/5 and you can see that being a popular option for neutrals looking to add value to a multi-match wager.
Arsenal are the favourites, but not by much, in their fixture against Borussia Dortmund. You can back the German side at a 7/4 margin while Arsenal are just a notch down at 6/4. They have always been the more cultured European side even though they haven’t always gotten as far as some of the other English teams. Arsenal deserve respect here and may be able to make short work of the German champions.
Celtic vs Ajax is another interesting fixture and the Scottish side are getting the edge from the bookmakers as they come into this one with a 7/5 price tag. Look for Ajax to put something together here at 2/1 while the 11/5 draw will probably prove to be a more popular in-play wager than anything else if the match looks like it might be played out more in the midfield.
Schalke 04 face off against Chelsea and the Blues would do well to grab a victory here. Chelsea aren’t rock solid in this one and they trade at 23/20 and you might be able to get better value at a continental bookmaker or on the exchanges with that particular play. Look for the German side at a 9/4 listing while the draw can be backed at a 5/2 margin.
Marseille and Napoli is another extremely close match with the French side trading at an 8/5 price tag while Napoli can be backed at a 2/1 listing. The draw is an 11/5 shot and it appears as though the bookmakers are having a hard time figuring this one out so keep your eyes peeled for some late swings in the odds.
