Twenty20 gets joint favourites
Australia and South Africa are now joint favourites to win the ICC World Twenty20 after an event-packed day but neither team are guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals until they complete and win their final match in the Super 8s. England bowed out in 'no' style as they were on the end of a whopping total of 218 that included six sixes in one Stuart Broad over from Yuvraj Singh. That result not only saw the back of England - Paul Collingwood maintained his mantra of Mr State the obvious when he said England had taken a lot from the tournament, ie how to lose in different ways - it also meant that if India can beat South Africa in the last Super 8s game they could go through on greater net rate ahead of either New Zealand or the hosts as all three sides would then be on four points. Australia face another must-win game against Sri Lanka - the latter having been backed on this site to go all the way. The Aussies have been here before in this tournament as they had to beat England to progress from the group stage but the Sri Lankans will be a much tougher proposition. Both Australia and South Africa are priced at 5/2 with the Aussies drifting from 9/4 and the hosts trimmed from 3/1 after their victory over New Zealand, courtesy of tremendous power hitting from Justin Kemp. The Kiwis are back out to 6/1 from 4/1, with Pakistan, who are undefeated in the Super 8s with Bangladesh left to play, 4/1 from 7/2. England's conquerors India are the 8/1 outsiders. Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "We've resisted knocking out Australia as they are always the team to beat, but the reality is that now England are out any team can win it."
