UFC 111 BETTING TIPS GEORGE ST PIERRE VS DAN HARDY AND FRANK MIR VS SHANE CARWIN
We're just a few hours away from the start of the widely-anticipated UFC 111 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The big headline fight is Canadian Powerhouse George St-Pierre taking on British upstart Dan Hardy, but there is also a very solid undercard on offer. Paddy Power's listed some very interesting odds and there are some extremely solid money-making opportunities available for punters looking to have a bet on tonights MMA action.
There is outright betting available on every bout, but you'll find some extra markets on the three marquee fights which are the St-Pierre vs Hardy, Frank Mir vs Shane Carwin and Jim Miller vs Mark Bocek. You can take your pick from the aforementioned outright betting, method of victory betting, whether the fight will go the distance, fight of the night and round betting. Many of these selections can be parlay'd with each other so the possibilities truly are limitless.
In regards to the lower-profile matches, Rousimar Palhares is heavily favoured to best Tomasz Drwal at a 1/3 price. Drwal trades at 2/1 for an unlikely victory. Ricardo Almeida is favoured to best Matt Brown at a competitive 4/6 with Brown trading at 11/10. This one is definitely up in the air. Jon Fitch trades at 1/4 to beat out Ben Saunders who is listed at a lengthy 5/2. Backing the three favourites on a treble pays a mere 2.6.
Jim Miller is a solid 1/4 favourite to beat out Mark Bocek, who is listed at around 5/2. Miller is a very justifiable favourite here and fans of his will do well to have a bash on him in other markets. Interestingly enough his is priced at 7/4 to win on points and 7/4 to win via submission. He trades at 4/1 to win via KO. Bocek's best chance looks to be a submission victory, and he pays 5/1 there. The fight is 11/8 to go the distance and 8/15 not to. Miller is slightly favoured to win in the 1st round at a 10/3 listing against a 7/2 price to win in the 2nd round and 4/1 in the third. I think a Miller victory on points isn't out of the question.
Frank Mir is tipped for a submission victory in his bout against Shane Carwin at a 13/8 price. Mir is 7/2 to KO his opponent and a lengthy 8/1 to win via points. This fight is a miniscule 1/14 to not go the distance and if it goes to a decision you're looking at a massive 6/1. This one is going to be quick and that favours Mir. Frank Mir trades at 4/6 for the outright victory while Carwin can be backed at 11/10. I'd say Mir by submission in round 2 at a 6/1 price.
There is heavy betting volume coming onto George St-Pierre and he is a very short 1/6 to best his challenger Dan Hardy. St-Pierre is favoured for the 1st round victory at a 10/3 margin and is listed as high as 6/1 to win in the fifth and final round. Dan Hardy is 7/2 to record the upset victory and the punters favour St-Pierre by KO at 11/10. He is 3/1 on points (a very short price in my opinion) and 4/1 on a submission victory. If Dan Hardy wins, it looks like he'll need to pull off a KO victory and he's priced at 9/2 for that. He's 9/1 on points and a massive 16/1 by submission. The fight is 5/2 to go the distance and 1/4 to finish before the end of five rounds. I'm backing St-Pierre by KO in the third round.
