UK 2010 GENERAL ELECTION LATEST ODDS FROM PADDY POWER

Paddy Power have unveiled one of the internet’s most complete betting markets ever on any political event. You can choose from a myriad of different bets on the upcoming general election. I think that we are likely poised for some serious swings in the odds over the next 24 hours as the first televised debate is set to go live tomorrow night.

Paddy Power has listed David Cameron as the odds-on favourite to be named the winner of the first TV debate. The Conservative leader is priced at 10/11 while Clegg trades at 7/4 and Brown is listed at 10/3. Cameron and Clegg are both priced at 13/8 to be the first to visibly perspire (that’s right) while ice-cold Gordon Brown is listed at 7/4. Should any party leader refuse to shake hands with another at the end of the debate, you’re looking at a 5/1 payout.
Additionally, you can also bet on which rule will be broken first. Applause during the debate is listed at 11/8 while booing trades at 7/4. Heckling pays out at 4/1 while cheering (fine line between cheering and applause) is at 9/2 while Streaking pays out at a massive 50/1.
On the actual election day itself, the Labour party is favoured to send out more tweets via twitter. They are priced at 11/10 to make more official tweets, while the conservatives are 6/4 and the Lib Dems are at 3/1.
The bookies are still betting against a conservative majority of 50+ with a 4/6 price of a minority government. Should the Conservatives pick up the required 50 or more seats then you’ve got a solid 11/10 payout.
In regards to the outright winner of the 2010 General Election- the Conservatives are very very heavy favourites at a 1/8 price. Labour is listed at 9/2 while the Liberal Democrats are a massive 200/1 to score a shock victory. There is also a full slate of constituency betting so if you’re looking to back Plaid Cymru to take the Arfon constituency, then you’re looking at a 1/10 price. Think the Conservatives are set for an upset in York Central? You’re looking at 7/2. Check out the link on Paddy Power to see how your constituency is shaping up.
The betting on the turnout % for the 2010 General Election is going to be a tough one and if you favour 70% or more then you’re looking at a 5/1 payday. 65-69.99% pays 5/2 while 60-64.99% pays out at 2/1. 55-59.99% pays 5/2 while 50-54.99%. Under 50% is a whopping 40/1. Back that and tell your friends to stay home.
