Under 17s World Football Championships

TURKEY AND MEXICO JOINT FAVOURITES<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Mexico and Turkey have advanced to the under-17 world football championship semi-finals in Peru, respectively defeating Costa Rica 3-1 and China 5-1 in the quarter-finals.Mexico will next meet either the US or the Netherlands, while undefeated Turkey will play defending champion Brazil or North Korea. Mexico progressed in dramatic fashion having conceded an own goal in the 67th minute. However, an equaliser two minutes from time sent the match into extra time from which they went onto win. Mexico and Turkey (the current European Champions) are currently the joint 2/1 favourites with Stan James to win the competition. The final is on October 2nd in Lima.
