UNITED AND CHELSEA HEAD PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Chelsea threw down the gauntlet to the rest of the Premier League on Saturday evening when smashing six past West Brom in a ruthless display, last night Manchester United picked up that gauntlet with a 3-0 victory over Newcastle.
Chelsea may have scored twice as many goals in their opening fixture but few who watched both games can argue that United weren’t equally, if not more, impressive. Paul Scholes was instrumental in the victory and played as well as he has done in any of his previous 14 years at the club, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov linked up impressively and both Nani and Antonio Valencia looked assured and confident on the ball.
Those who were hoping to see a different name on the Premier League trophy this season will be quickly realising that the chasing pack have an awful lot to do if they are to finish above United and Chelsea this season.
Chelsea are the 13/8 favourites to retain their Premier League tile and Manchester United are 2/1 to regain it, both with Bet365.
In horseracing, York’s Ebor Meeting gets underway today with the Juddmonte International Stakes. Unfortunately we are denied the opportunity to see Harbinger race following the injury which has forced a premature end to his career. However, we still have a very exciting race in prospect.
Rip Van Winkle heads the betting after finishing a narrow second to Canford Cliffs in last month’s Sussex Stakes. You can back the Aidan O’Brien trained horse at odds of 2/1 with Victor Chandler.
Prince of Walse’s Stakes winner Byword is second favourite at 11/4 with the same bookmaker and Prix Jean Prat winner Dick Turpin and Coral Eclipse winner Twice Over make up the quartet of likely challengers at odds of 4/1 and 5/1 respectively.
