With a decent break after this match-up, United will be looking to get this one taken care of quickly - so expect them to come out of the gates strong. Look for the likes of Tom Cleverley and Javier Hernandez to factor into the starting line-up here, while Danny Welbeck has probably earned himself a starting slot as well.
You wouldn’t expect United star striker Robin Van Persie coming into this one unless United wind up needing a result in the last 20 minutes or so.
If Reading could force a replay it would be a disaster for United who continue to compete on three different fronts. Despite their twelve point lead in the Premier League, you have to appreciate that they could easily start dropping points - particularly with a lengthy Champions League campaign.
As for tonights fixture, Reading are trading at a lengthy 10/1 to get the outright result here while United are short-priced at a 1/4 listing. The draw can be backed at a 5/1 price tag and that’s really more of an in-play wager than anything else.
In regards to outright qualification, Reading are 5/1 while United are an ultra-low 1/9.
United have three different strikers all listed at odds-on prices to score at any point in the match. This is always a market where you want to wait until you actually see the team sheets before you put down anything significant. It’s important to remember that many of the players you’re seeing tonight are auditioning for a spot against Real in the 2nd leg so the likes of Nani and Ashley Young will be trying to put in good shifts - Tom Cleverley as well.
