A half-fit Luis Suarez is still better than no Luis Suarez at all, but he would be perhaps the least likely to be able to take any of the England defenders by surprise the way he might be able to get one over a Ghana or Iranian side. All the England players are used to playing against a fully fit Suarez so he won’t be able to take anyone by surprise like he did at the last World Cup.

You get the feeling that the first goal scored in this match might not be the winner but it will likely be the crucial goal. Speaking of the devil, Suarez is the outright favourite to score the first goal of the match with a 6.0 price tag putting him just ahead of Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney and Edinson Cavani - who are all just a step behind him at 7.0.
Rickie Lambert might very well be deployed in this one and he could cause the Uruguayan defenders some real problems - particularly if they play the way they did in the opening fixture. Look for him around 10.0 to score first but only wait until you actually see his name on the teamsheets prior to the match kicking off. Lambert is unlikely to actually get the start but if things are deadlocked at 0-0 heading into the 60th minute expect to see him get introduced. That might very well be able to open things up and make the match kick off in a big way.
True believers will be backing Ross Barkley to score first and he’s a 15.0 chance to get that done. It would really vault him onto the world stage and give those who were hyping him up prior to the tournament every right to be smug about things. The only question is whether he actually gets the start.
Wayne Rooney really has been under the gun lately and, though many might think he will be wilting under the pressure today, Rooney is looming as a genuine threat to prove the doubters wrong. Though some might want to opt out of taking a position on this match, Rooney could be set for a real barn burner if he gets the chance to play. His back genuinely is to the wall.
Rooney is 3.0 to score any time, 11.0 to score two or more and a whopping 51.0 to score what would be a very famous hat trick.
