URUGUAY VS FRANCE WORLD CUP 2010 BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS
What an opening match South Africa vs Mexico turned out to be! The first half was fairly forgettable, but things really got going in the second half- I think we saw one of the best World Cup opening goals in a very long time. South Africa almost had it won, but Mphela hit the post. I'll tell you one thing though- it's game on for Group A.
We've got a few hours until the second match of the day when Uruguay take on France and you can be sure that both of those teams now realize how important a victory will be as a draw in the opener means that whoever has three points has an absolute stranglehold on the group and will likely on need another draw to see themselves through to the next round.
After South Africa's peformance today, I'd say there's four teams in the mix in this group. South Africa can get there.
Bet365 have France as the 2.25 favourites to win the match with Uruguay priced at 3.5. The draw rewards at 3.2, but I have a feeling that both teams know they need to come out all guns blazing as Group A looks there for the taking.
The favoured scoreline is a 1-1 draw, priced at 6.0 while a 1-0 result to France is just a shade behind at a 6.5 price. Uruguay to score a 1-0 victory pays out at 8.5 and that's a solid price. Personally, I think 2-1 to Uruguay with a late goal would be a very plausible outcome and that pays 12.0 while a 2-1 result to France pays 9.5.
Bet365 have priced Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry and Diego Forlan at identical 3.0 prices to score anytime. However, the two Frenchplayers are at 6.5 to score first while Forlan trades at 7.0. Luis Suarez is listed at 3.75 to score anytime and 8.0 to score first or last.
Keep your eye on Patrice Evra for France as he will likely be lurking on the wing. He is a whopping 15.0 to score a goal at any time. I would also be on the lookout for Franck Ribery and he's trading at 4.0 to score anytime.
Personally, I think this is a very winnable fixture for Uruguay and the first goal is genuinely important here. France will be looking for a 1-0 result but a higher scoreline favours Uruguay. I think tempo is the key variable here and if the Uruguayans can come out strong and hit France on the break quickly, then they will be able to dictate the match. France is vulnerable defensively and I expect it to be tight early on and wouldn't be surprised if the first goal came from a set-piece.
