URUGUAY VS GERMANY 3RD PLACE WORLD CUP BETTING PREDICTIONS
Over the past few days, we've seen Germany's odds to beat Uruguay drop dramatically as punters are getting plenty of betting volume in on this contest as we're down to our last two matches of the 2010 World Cup. This one should be another intriguing contest and I find that 3rd place matches are generally assumed to be quite tame, but nine times out of ten they wind up being played with lots of intensity as both sides try to finish the tournament on a high.
Popular bookmaker William Hill has priced Germany at a slim 8/11 while Uruguay are available at 4/1 and the draw pays out at a 5/2 price tag. This is for the 90 minutes market and does not include extra time or penalties.
If you're looking to back a result that includes the possibility of extra time or penalty kicks, you're looking at 3/10 for Germany and 12/5 for Diego Forlan and CO.
Miroslav Klose is still in the hunt to be the top goalscorer of the 2010 World Cup and he's odds-on to get at least one here. You can back Klose to score at a 4/5 price anytime and he's 9/2 to open or close the scoring.
If he wants to high-roll the competition, he will need at least two and will need David Villa and Wesley Sneijder to be shut out in the final.
He is 4/1 to hit two or more and 18/1 to score what would be a very famous hat-trick.
Thomas Muller is back for this one and he has been one of the unabashed stars of this tournament and I think he's in just about everybody's World Cup 2010 XI. You can back him and Lukas Podolski to score anytime at 11/8. They are also at 7/1 to score first or last.
Diego Forlan's odds to score against Germany are at 6/4 anytime and 8/1 first or last. He is 12/1 to score two or more (that's a distinct possibility if he plays the whole game) and he's priced at 33/1 to score a hat-trick. I heard that he was playing through injury in the last fixture so I'm not sure how much time he will actually see on the pitch. I would wait until the teamsheets are revealed before I bet a substantial sum on Diego Forlan.
Luis Suarez will surely be taking to the pitch under a cacophony of boos mixed with rapturous applause. You could just see him scoring in this one couldn't you? He's priced at 9/4 anytime and 11/1 to score first or last. If he gets the start, and he likely will, I think he's a great bet to score first just to rub everyone's nose in it. Suarez is 16/1 to get a pair of goals or more and he's a clear 50/1 for a hat-trick.
I think this one could go in either direction and Uruguay have shown that they've got the ability to shut quality teams out for a substantial period of time. If they can take this into the second half 0-0 then I think they're a great shout. Taking away the threat from Miroslav Klose while keeping players defending deep is going to be the likely strategy. Watch for Uruguay to keep a very deep defensive line. Germany probably have more to prove here and if they can score two before the 60th minute then I think they could get on a roll here.
