US OPEN 2010 LIVE BETTING WAWRINKA VS. QUERREY
The US Open R16 billing between Stanislas Wawrinka and Sam Querrey is about to get underway and Live betting markets with it.
Most bookmakers tip Querrey the slight favourite ahead of the match, but only just so. William Hill, however, offered the best summation of this clash, tipping both players equally at 5/6 to advance into the quarterfinals.
I do believe this match is a complete tossup with both players having an equal shot to reach the final eight at the US Open. It would be a first for either player.
Querrey has the home edge and that is just about the only edge he has over Wawrinka in this clash. Clearly, it hasn’t advanced him in the eyes of bookmakers though.
Querrey is through to his third-ever R16 at a major, second straight R16 after reaching this stage at Wimbledon this year.
Wawrinka has been to the fourth round five times in his career but was derailed each time. He has his best chance against Querrey today, a player he’s beaten once before at the 2009 Indian Wells Masters 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(8).
The number of sets in this match is also a tossup according to bookies as a straight set affair, irrespective of the winner, is trading just large of Evens at 13/8 while a four or five set affair is tipped at 6/4 and 15/8, respectively.
I expect this match to unfold in five acts. Both Wawrinka and Querrey are tipped at 9/2 to win by a 3-2 score. A 3-1 score is listed at 7/2 while a straight set affair is going for 4/1.
Querrey is an offensive-minded player and prone to momentum swings. Wawrinka is a great defender but can be offensive when he needs to be –his match against Murray proof-positive. He really took it to Muzz and in so doing nicked a career best win at a major.
In other markets, Querrey is tipped as the 22/1 bet to win the tournament while Wawrinka is listed larger, at 33/1 bet to win the tournament. Perhaps this market is the most telling after all.
