US OPEN BETTING & ULTIMATE BIG BROTHER BEGINS

Andy Murray will be seeded fourth in Thursday’s US Open tennis draw after the seedings for the final Grand Slam of the season were announced earlier today. The top nine players in the world rankings have been handed the corresponding top nine seedings meaning Rafael Nadal is seeded at number one and Roger Federer at number two.
Federer goes into the US Open on the back of success at the recent Cincinnati Masters – his first tournament victory since the Australian Open – having beaten Mardy Fish in three sets in the final there.  Nadal’s preparations haven’t been as impressive after he was beaten by Murray in the semi-finals in Toronto then Marcos Baghdatis in the quarter-finals in Cincinnati.
As a result of their contrasting recent fortunes Federer has now overtaken Nadal as the bookmakers’ favourite for US Open glory. Totesport make the Swiss a 5/2 chance with the world number one available to back at 11/4.
In football, Manchester City rounded off a highly entertaining weekend of Premier League action by beating Liverpool 3-0 at Eastlands. Roberto Mancini’s expensively assembled squad controlled the game from start to finish and laid down their marker after an otherwise shaky start to the season.
Games against Sunderland, Blackburn then Wigan are to follow before a massive game against the champions Chelsea. The bookmakers were obviously suitably impressed as Bet365 trimmed City’s odds on winning the Premier League from 8/1 into 13/2 on the back of last night’s result and performance.
And finally, Big Brother 11 draws to a close tonight with Josie a 1/33 certainty to be crowned the winner. However, she won’t have much time to celebrate her new status as she, along with a host of ex-housemates, is thrown back into the house in a quest to find the Ultimate Big Brother contestant.
