US OPEN FINAL BETTING TIPS AND LIVE BETTING ZVONAREVA VS CLIJSTERS

Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva are set to decide the 2010 US Open title tonight at Arthur Ashe Stadium, wrapping up what has been a Super Saturday of tennis betting on the US Open in the markets.
Clijsters enjoyed a Cinderella run last year at the US Open when she beat both Williams’s sisters to win her second straight US Open crown (retirement notwithstanding). She is faced with the potential of winning a third straight US Open title tonight, third overall Grand Slam title but standing in her way is an in-form Vera Zvonareva – a  player that, incidentally, has beaten her twice in their last two meetings – Wimbledon and Montreal.
Zvonareva isn’t going to be a walk in the park for Clijsters despite the overwhelming vote of confidence by bookmakers across all platforms.
William Hill is after installing Clijsters as the 2/5 favourite. Paddy Power, meanwhile, tips her as the 4/9 favourite and sportingbet.com has her trading at 4/11.
Zvonareva has never seen into the US Open final but she got a taste of potential major glory a few months back at Wimbledon wherein she finished runner-up to Serena Williams.
Surely, Zvonareva’s chances of winning a maiden major title are better against Kim Clijsters than they were against Serena Williams. Though she is still tipped the underdog in this match – at 2/1 with sportingbet.com, 19/10 at William Hill and 7/4 at Paddy Power, she’s a tempting underdog nonetheless.
What makes Zvonareva so tempting a bet is the fact that she’s beaten Clijsters twice this summer already. Moreover, she comes into this match on formidable form, arguably, in better form than Clijsters is in.
Of course, you could say she’s had an easy draw but that would be a tad disingenuous, and would take everything away from her win over tournament favourite and top seed Wozniacki in the semis.
Set Betting markets on this match are rather revealing, in my opinion. In some ways, the prices leave the title up for grabs.
Clijsters isn’t strongly favoured in these markets, albeit she is shorter than Zvonareva is. Clijsters is tipped at 11/10 to win by a 2-0 score and at a slightly large 13/5 to win by a 3-1 score. This is down to the momentum swings that she’s prone to and that, if we are realistic, expose her to an upset.
Clijsters battled with Stosur and Venus over three sets but the pair, at the time of asking, choked. The manner in which Zvonareva advances into the US Open final, without dropping a set and playing so confidently, suggests that if given the chance she’d capitalize. Granted, Zvonareva is tipped at large prices for both scores – 4/1 and 9/2 to win 2-0 and 3-1, respectively, but just because she’s not expected to win doesn’t mean she will not.
