US OPEN LATEST ODDS FOR WOMENS SINGLES BETTING

With Venus Williams having gotten increased attention thus far for her fashion sense and “tug count” she racked up in round four, the time has come for her to focus more on her intentions to win...and today is that day. With home support for the last American women at the tournament, Williams is expected to cruise past Francesca Schiavone.Bet365.com offers odds on Williams to win at 2/5, with safe odds set at her winning in straight sets at 11/10.
Schiavone can enter this match swinging freely, and comfortable in the fact that she has accomplished more than anyone expected of her. Against Venus on a flushing Meadows hard court, it probably won’t be enough, with Venus very likely to extend her record against Schiavone to 8-0. Schiavone is set at 7/4 on both bet365.com as well as William Hill. Based on past performances- William Hill offers a nice little earner on Williams to win the first set at 8/15. Williams should stroll this one with the potential meeting with Clijsters in the semis looming- and with it a whole kettle of fish from both a betting, as well as equal match up perspective.
In the other ladies match up of the day, defending champion Kim Clijsters carries through some serious momentum, which saw her win 12 games in a row in the second round, into today’s match up with Samantha Stomur. Paddypower.com is clearly in agreement, putting Clijsters at 2/11to win, with bet365.com proving even thinner with 1/6.
Stomur is set at 7/2, with the odds of her producing a 2-1 set upset against Clijsters (the only conceivable scoreline in such an upset call) set at a lucrative 15/2. One has to search long and hard to find the exciting odds in this one, however with paddypower.com registering a 2-0 Clijsters victory at 4/7...there is still money to be made.
All in all, today’s US Open match ups probably don’t provide the most riveting viewing from a challenge aspect, but it does provide an opportunity for some youngsters to make their mark on what has, for years, been a largely ‘superstar’ dominated tournament.
