USA Odds-On to Lift Women's World Cup Trophy

What started as a relatively tame and underwhelming tournament full of mistimed passes and over-hit crosses has blossomed into a fascinating match-up of two underdog sides looking to for a massive win for extremely different reasons.
The United States managed a smash and grab raid to rob the Brazilians, quite rightly, of their seemingly assured spot in the semi finals and then made extremely short work of France to score a victory with a 3-1 score line that looks more comfortable than it many might have originally suspected.
As it currently stands, the USA Women's odds are trading at around 9/10 while their opponents Japan are a lengthy 14/5 price. The tournament has seen some very big moments and some extremely marginal decisions have gone on to have massive impact.
Japan were not expected to get this far by any means and a women's world cup win would certainly provoke some smiles in a country that hasn't had a substantial amount to cheer for in recent months. Their romp over the fancied Swedes was more thorough than the Americans semi-final match.
The aforementioned Swedish side and the French tangle in the third place fixture where the French are being given a distinct edge. Punters will find the French women trading at a 5/4 listing while Sweden are sitting at around 19/10.
There are still a few weeks left until the preparations for the upcoming English Premier League season get fully underway so the Women's World Cup will have to hold everybody over until then. Look for plenty of action and excitement from the pitch in Germany as the United States look to write themselves into the history books.
