USA VS ENGLAND TOP FIVE BEST BETTING PREDICTIONS
We are tantalizingly close to the kick-off of the most anticipated match of the 2010 World Cup qualifying stage- the England vs USA showdown. We've covered the match length here and everybody knows that England are the distinct favourites, but there are so many interesting betting markets out there that we have compiled a list of the best ones available.
Bet365 is going to be offering up in-play wagering on this one and while I think there are going to be plenty of excellent opportunities for live betting, these odds discussed in this article refer to the pre-match odds that we've still got for the next hour or two.
#5
Peter Crouch to score first
If Crouchy gets the nod to start with Rooney, I'm actually confident that he'll likely be the one to open up the scoring as Rooney will attract so much attention from the American defenders. Crouch has that ability to just pop up and cause problems with the defence and his ability to poach a goal is second to none at International level. He's got a better international strike rate than Lionel Messi.
Bet365 has priced Crouch at 7.0 to score first and I think that's a great selection if he gets the nod to start alongside Wayne Rooney. If we see Emile Heskey or Jermain Defoe starting with Rooney then I would be tempted to back the United star.
#4
England (-1.0)
I don't think this one will be particularly close if England grab the early goal. The first goal is so crucial here that I think England will want the Americans to have to chase something and open up more space at the back. That's England's comfort zone and Capello will make enough tactical switches to keep the Americans guessing.
I think once the floodgates open then England will start to hit the net a few more times.
#3
Clint Dempsey to score last
I think that the USA will likely grab a goal late on in the match, as England tend to get a bit slack once they've bit up a lead. I don't fancy the USA to score first, but I do think that they may slot home late on. I think Clint Dempsey is your best candidate and he trades at a 5.5 price anytime and an enticing 15.0 to score first or last.
#2
Wayne Rooney to Score a Hat Trick
This is proving to be a very popular bet as a number of English supporters think Wayne is going to come out like a house on fire in this one. Bet365 has priced Wayne Rooneys odds to score a hat-trick at 23.0. I think it's plausible, but once Wazza has scored two I think Capello may be tempted to take him off. 23.0 is a solid price though as I've seen Rooney as low as 16.0 at other sites.
It should also be noted that Rooney is a solid 6.0 to score two goals or more.
#1
Glen Johnson/England 1-0
I think that if you're looking for a genuinely long bet that you should always play a scorecast. I'm confident that Glen Johnson could be the key variable if the match turns out to be a tight one. England boast two of the best attacking fullbacks in the world and if the USA make more of a game of this than many people expect then I think the winning goal for England will come from somewhere you wouldn't expect. You're looking at a very solid 66/1 price for Glen Johnson to score first and England to squeak through 1-0.
