USA VS ITALY 2009 CONFEDERATIONS CUP BETTING TIPS

We're just into the second day of action at the 2009 Confederations Cup and this will certainly be one of the most watched, and anticipated, matches of the opening rounds. USA go into this match as significant underdogs, but this is the type of tournament where traditional form can really get turned on its head. Naturally, I think there's some excellent betting opportunities on this match. USA carry a 5/1 price to pull off the upset with Italy listed at odds-on with an 8/13 price tag. The draw pays 13/5 and USA is listed at 3/1 on a draw no bet with Italy's equivalent listed at 2/11. The lowest-odds correct score is 2-0 Italy and I can't see that happening, and its definitely not enticing at 9/2. 1-0 is more of an Italy scoreline and that pays out at a mere 11/2. USA 2-1 is plausible and that pays out at a solid 18/1. Italy 2-1 is listed at 15/2 and thats also fairly plausible. If you think this one could be a bit of a barn-burner you can back 3-2 USA at 66/1 and 3-2 Italy at 33/1. Landon Donovan is listed at 11/4 to score anytime for the Americans. He is 8/1 to score first and last and 50/1 to score a hat-trick. Charlie Davies is the second most likely goalscorer for the United States with a 7/2 anytime price alongside Jozy Altidore. Clint Dempsey is 5/1 to score antime and 12/1 first or last.Freddy Adu is an interesting bet and if he's named in the starting line-up, I think he's worth a bash to score anytime at 11/2. Luca Toni is listed at evens to score anytime and 4/1 first and last. Alberto Gilardino and Giuseppe Rossi are both listed at 6/5 anytime and 9/2 first or last. Vincenzo Iaquinta is my call for first goalscorer and his 5/1 price is decent enough for me. If he's in the starting line-up, check out Fabio Quagliarella at 15/8 anytime- he's an Italian Wayne Rooney. Gennaro Gattuso at 8/1 anytime is also a solid bet. If you're looking to back Italy there isn't a huge amount of value, but if they win, they'll win because they kept America off the scoresheet entirely. Back them to win to nil at 21/20 with William Hill. If you're backing the US, you're looking at 5/1 outright. I can see a 2-1 scoreline or a 3-2 scoreline if the Americans get the result. Conveniently, both results pay out massive.
