VC Bet slash Federer from odds against to 8-13
VC Bet have slashed Roger Federer from odds-against to 8/13 for the Australian Open after the Swiss ace continues to impress in the lead up to the first major of 2005. Last year's Aussie, Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows king has started the new season in imperious form after demolishing the opposition to lift the recent Qatar Open and is well on course for a second Grand Slam title Down Under according to odds man Paul Moody. "He was trading at 21/10 for the Australian Open last week but that's all gone now," he said. "It's going to be an achievement in itself to take a set off the 'Fed Express' at the moment let alone beat him and his main rivals in Melbourne at present would appear to be injury or weather rather than any of the other players." Moody highlighted a woeful lack of suitors capable of dethroning Federer. "At the end of last year Marat Safin appeared the most likely threat to Federer but while he may not have been fully prepared last week, a defeat to David Sanguinetti in the Hopman Cup was not encouraging. "And Safin, along with other main rivals, Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick, have been pushed out," he added.
