VCBet on this weekend's relegation fixtures
VC Bet's football judge Nick Blezard marks your card for this weekend's crucial relegation fixtures. Crystal Palace v Southampton The winner of this game will stay up in my opinion so we can expect a real blood and thunder clash at Selhurst Park. With a packed home crowd giving the Eagles a crucial edge I'm tipping Ian Dowie to get the better of wily old fox Harry Redknapp. The fact that Saints' Peter Crouch is not operating at 100 per cent efficiency is a massive blow to their chances because this will be a game that will see plenty of long balls lumped into each others' boxes. Verdict: Narrow home win that will save Palace. Man Utd v West Brom West Brom travel to Old Trafford hoping Sir Alex Ferguson's team will make it easy against one of the club's former heroes - Bryan Robson. Losing to Arsenal on Monday might have done West Brom a favour because I don't think United can realistically catch the Gunners for second place now. They are now four points behind with an inferior goal difference so you have to question how fired up United will be. For those betting on the game it's probably best to wait until the actual day and see what vibes are being given out. If you can get a decent price about the draw it might well be worth taking. United could rest a few of their star players for the FA Cup final which will help the Baggies sneak a point. Verdict: Back Baggies on the Asian Handicap or take them to grab a point at Old Trafford. Norwich v Birmingham. The Canaries could well be singing after this game if Brum boss Steve Bruce decides to rest a few players but I think he will try and do his old mate Bryan Robson a favour and condemn Norwich to defeat. Although Birmingham have only pride to play for they are in good form at present after beating Blackburn and drawing with Everton, while Norwich look leaky at the back. For me Birmingham have too much class and Bruce will be driving them hard to finish above city rivals Aston Villa who have a tough game against Man City this weekend. Verdict: Home win for Blues.
