Watford vs Sheff Utd Betting Tips

While Man Utd and Chelsea were doing battle with winning the league title in mind on Sunday, a battle at the other end of the Premiership spectrum takes place on Tuesday evening when Watford entertain Sheff Utd at Vicarage Road. It might seem as though there is a lot less at stake than there was at Old Trafford at the weekend, but in the context of the two clubs in question this match is every bit as important - it's a must-win game for both! Watford and Sheff Utd were promoted after successful campaigns in the Championship last season, but they have quickly discovered how tough life in the topflight is and neither are expected to be left standing when the Premiership dust settles come what May. The Hornets and the Blades, currently second and third last in the table respectively, are both long odds-on to prove that what goes up, must come down. And, given that they've won just three of their combined total of 23 games played thus far, things aren't looking good. But as far as this game goes, things look pretty good if the Watford-Sheff Utd clashes in the Championship last term are a barometer. Indeed, their two meetings last season produced a total of ten goals. Neil Warnock's men came away with a 3-2 verdict at Vicarage Road, while Watford inflicted a resounding 4-1 defeat on the Blades at Bramall Lane. As such, everything looks set fair for an action-packed game because, although neither side will neglect their defensive duties, both would view a point as being bitterly disappointing, so don't expect a pedestrian match with two teams gunning for a draw. On the plus side for Watford, their home form has been pretty decent all things considered. Adrian Boothroyd's charges have conceded an average of just one goal per home game, which isn't at all bad given that they've already played host to the mighty Man Utd, in addition to Aston Villa and Tottenham. Admittedly, they've only scored seven times in the half-dozen matches in question, which is a tad concerning, especially as striker Marlon King is out with a knee injury, while winger Hameur Bouazza is doubtful as he's still struggling with the bruised ankle he suffered during his side's 2-1 defeat against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on November 18. However, midfielders Ashleigh Young and Damien Francis have contributed five of then ten goals that the Hornets have scored in the Premiership to date. Furthermore, Darrius Henderson, who scored twice against United in this fixture in the Championship last term, and Tamas Priskin, who is likely to get a place up front in the starting XI, both will be keen to impress and break their goalscoring ducks in the Premiership. Therefore, Watford still boasts definite goalscoring potential, and rate the most likely winners in my opinion. It's hard to predict how the cards might fall in this game, so rather than chancing any fancy bets, my advice is to keep it simple and get stuck into Watford in the match result market at 5/4 with VCbet Despite a paltry goalscoring record on rival turf - they've netted just one goal in seven away fixtures - Sheff Utd haven't done terribly on their travels overall given that they've conceded a respectable nine times away from Bramall Lane. The Blades weren't disgraced when going down by a goal to nil against the Hammers at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday and their penultimate away game resulted in three points as a 68th-minute Danny Webber strike was enough to sink Newcastle at St James' Park. Webber, a former Watford man, missed the West Ham game after incurring a niggling hamstring problem but might well be fit for this bout. But, unlike last season, I doubt that Neil Warnock's men will leave Hertfordshire smiling on Tuesday night. Verdict - 4pts Watford in the match result market @ 5/4 (VCbet)
