With the recent announcement that Sir Alex Ferguson was retiring at the end of this season, the Premier League has been turned upside down with rumor and speculation. The way it looks right now, Everton are on the hunt for a new manager as David Moyes has accepted United’s offer and looks set to take the reigns as soon as Sir Alex, who will stay on in a director’s role, departs from his position in May.

Word on the street has been that Wayne Rooney was looking to leave United this year anyway, with Bayern Munich or PSG suspected to be his preferred destinations. It isn’t that long ago that Rooney created a scare by announcing he intended to leave United - before ultimately signing another five year contract.
It will be interesting to see whether the potential return of Cristiano Ronaldo would do anything to keep Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford going forward. It would be like rolling back the years if the two of them were to take the field together.
David Moyes and Rooney saw the inside of a court-room after Rooney charged Moyes with libel after his book was published. Rooney was ultimately successful in his effort and, reportedly, the two have reconciled.
Needless to say, the bookmakers have swung into high gear on this one and they look likely to try to extract as much money as possible from this process with Rooney.
As it currently stands, the bookmakers consider him more likely to leave than to stay with a listing of 8/11 being floated on Rooney departing and an even money offer on his remaining at United.
Obviously, the speculation then turns to who he would play for next and it looks like the odds on Chelsea are surprisingly short. There is every chance that Rooney will likely opt for playing abroad but a big ticket offer from Roman Abramovich might do the trick.
Paris St Germain are available at 2/1 and Rooney would relish the opportunity to play alongside David Beckham. Chelsea trade at 5/2 while Bayern Munich can be backed at 7/2. Longer-odds options include 10/1 Manchester City and 16/1 Everton. Real Madrid trades at 20/1 while a blockbuster move to LA Galaxy can be backed at 25/1 alongside Barcelona.
