WAYNE ROONEY TRANSFER BETTING ODDS

The English newspapers are collective in their agreement that Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson no longer see eye to eye and that the striker’s future at Manchester United is in serious doubt.
Rooney’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2012 but would normally be expected to sign a new deal in the next six months in order to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer. However, it is believed that the 24-year-old has made it clear that he will not sign a new deal, a decision that would force United to sell the player, perhaps as early as this January.
The England striker is thought to be unhappy with the way that Ferguson has treated the player in the aftermath of news of his off-field issues coming to light. Rooney was dropped from the squad for the Everton game following the revelations and has since missed games against Valencia and Sunderland when Ferguson claimed that he had an ankle injury. Then despite featuring for England in midweek he was once again left on the bench for United when they faced West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Paddy Power are offering odds of 2/1 that Manchester City is Rooney’s next club and 5/2 that he follows former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
In cricket, Chris Gayle has been sacked as captain of the West Indies in all forms of the game and is set to be replaced by former MCC Young Cricketer Darren Sammy. Brendan Nash also replaces Dwayne Bravo as vice-captain, although he and Gayle retain their places in the squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
Should Sammy impress then he is likely to retain the captaincy for the ICC Cricket World Cup in February. West Indies are currently considered as one of the big outsiders for the tournament and can be backed at odds of as big as 20/1 with Totesport.
