WAYNE ROONEY TRANSFER BETTING
To say that yesterday’s press conference from Sir Alex Ferguson was interesting would be an understatement of gross proportions. It was intriguing, fascinating, harrowing, revealing, perplexing, informative and many other things all rolled into one. We were given a rare glimpse of a side of Ferguson that we very seldom see. A dejected man that looked betrayed by a young player that he had treat like a son since bringing to the club.
However fascinating and intriguing the delivery of the information was, the message was clear, Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United.
And so, at present the only questions are when and where will Rooney move to, not if. Skybet are 4/9 that he is still at United come the end of the January transfer window, 3/1 that he is still there at the beginning of next season and 4/1 that he moves on in the summer transfer window.
Victor Chandler make Real Madrid and Manchester City the 2/1 joint favourites for where the 24-year-old will move to next. Barcelona are just 5/2 then it is a big jump in the odds to Chelsea who can be backed at 8/1.
This promises to be a saga which will run and run until either Rooney makes a u-turn regarding his future at Old Trafford or he finds another club.
Elsewhere, having originally been the only man in the running for the vacant Middlesbrough managers job Tony Mowbray now has company in the next Middlesbrough manager betting markets. Skybet have Mowbray as the 11/10 favourite, but have also slashed their price on Gary Megson with the former Bolton and West Bromwich Albion manager now a 6/4 chance. Paul Ince has also shortened considerably in the betting and is currently a 7/2 chance.
