Wednesday night FA Cup Replays

Wednesday's FA Cup replays features two games with Premiership sides hoping to beat lower league opposition at home. Blackburn Rovers take on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cardiff City at Ewood Park, while Fulham entertain Watford at Craven Cottage. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Blackburn Rovers have come a long way under Mark Hughes with just one defeat in eight matches since the first week of December. The team is better organised and far happier under the former Wales manager, and further improvements should be expected as the season progresses, including a decent Cup run. Although Cardiff have done well in the past few games, they are still languishing dangerously close near the drop zone. The Bluebirds have only won twice on their travels all season, and are unlikely to trouble their improving Premiership opponents. While the 2/5 on Rovers is too short for an outright bet, they are still worth adding into a double along with Fulham at the slightly longer odds of 8/15. Backing both sides pays out at 11/10. The Cottagers haven't enjoyed the best of seasons, which is reflected by their 15th position in the Premiership. However, while Watford have been an excellent Cup team in recent seasons, much of their good work has come at Vicarage Road. The Hornets did admittedly play remarkably well in the Carling Cup at Anfield last week, but that 1-0 defeat came in blustery conditions against an out of sorts Liverpool. Chris Coleman is sure to have his troops fired up for a game they really ought to win. The other Premiership team involved on Wednesday night are Manchester United away at Exeter. Sir Alex Ferguson had to apologise to the fans after a goalless draw at Old Trafford against the non-league outfit. It is highly unlikely United will be as poor this time around, and should come away from Devon with a comfortable victory. The 1/9 quote is though far too short to get involved with one way or another. Incidentally, William Hill are quoting 5/2 that Exeter score against Man Utd penalty shoot-outs included - and at 2/7 to fail to score.
