Wednesday's Premier League Action Presents Many Lucrative Opportunities
- By Allan Pederson on November 10, 2010 17:07 GMTWhile most eyes will be focused on the Manchester Derby kicking off at Eastlands today, there is still plenty of interesting action unfolding elsewhere in the English Premier League.
Gerard Houllier has found his footing at Aston Villa and they should be able to tackle Blackpool today. The bookmakers have the Villains at an odds-on price while Blackpool are around 11/2 for the away victory. Look for Stewart Downing to receive the ball a bit more today and dictate play down the flanks.
Chelsea vs Fulham could have a bit more spice to it as the Blues aren’t exactly in the best of form at the moment. The bookmakers certainly reckon that they’ll bounce back though and they are short-priced at 1/4 for an outright victory here. The Cottagers are a full 12/1 and it would be a momentous achievement for Mark Hughes to get an away victory here. Chelsea should stroll.
Newcastle vs Blackburn looks sharply-tilted towards the Magpies as they are odds-on at 4/5 for the victory at St James’ Park. Sam Allardyce’s men trade at 7/2 and they’re playing better than recent results might indicate but you expect Newcastle to continue their rich vein of form.
West Ham vs West Brom looks fairly open and both sides will look at this one as a winnable fixture. These are the types of matches that the Hammers need to win if they’re going to stave off a relegation dogfight, but West Brom have proven that they’re here to play. You’ll find West Ham at 5/4 but West Brom are good value at 11/5.
Wigan vs Liverpool should be another morale-booster for the Anfield side and Roy Hodgson will likely field a full-strength side here if possible. You’ll find the Reds at 8/11 while the Latics are priced at 7/2. They have shown the ability to snatch draws from bigger sides, but Liverpool just might be playing with a little too much swagger, as odd as that might sound.
Everton face a tricky home fixture against Bolton and it has to be acknowledged that Wanderers have outperformed expectations this year. Everton will need an organized and effective performance though their 4/6 price indicates confidence from the bookmakers. Bolton are 9/2 for the win but a 5/2 draw isn’t a bad price on a very plausible draw.
Wolves vs Arsenal could be a tighter affair than it might look on paper with Arsenal not exactly firing on all cylinders in their past few fixtures. Wolves will still be smarting from their last minute heart-breaker against Manchester United. They’re 9/2 for the home win and Arsenal trade at an odds-on price but this one might favour the in-play punters as we’re not 100% sure which Arsenal team shows up today.
We’ll be playing a four-match parlay delivering 12.43 odds on Chelsea x Newcastle x West Brom x Liverpool.
