William Hill Free Bet and Premier League Opening Weekend Betting Tips

There has been plenty of moving and shaking in the English Premier League as we get closer by the day to the big kick-off of the 2012/13 season. After some last-second heroics back in May, Manchester City were able to wrest the title from their cross-town rivals and they will be actively looking to defend that all the way.

City face a much easier opening fixture than United do but we will have to wait until Sunday and Monday to see either of them in action. The Saturday line-up looks solid with Arsenal expected to get the better of Sunderland.

Following the sale of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, Arsenal fans might be wondering just how this one is going to shape up and an early-season slump would see Arsene Wenger under a significant amount of pressure. Seemingly full of confidence in his new signings, it also looks as though Alex Song may be making an exit as well.

Sunderland are a lengthy 8/1 to pull off a dramatic day one upset.

Reading vs Stoke and QPR vs Swansea are the most open-ended games on Saturday and QPR look to be getting the edge from the bookmakers though fixtures like this were bread and butter for the Welsh side last year. Look for Swansea to get the reverse at a 13/5 listing. Reading are the favourite to get the better of Stoke but you reckon this one may have 0-0 written all over it.

Chelsea are an 8/15 shot to get the better of Wigan as they venture up to the Dave Whelan stadium or whatever it's called now. The Latics are trading at an 11/2 listing pull off a home victory but they would likely take the 3/1 odds on the draw too as that would be an extra point in the bank early on in the season.

Liverpool have plenty of question marks right now but they have been taken into odds-on by the bookmakers to get the better of West Brom despite this being an away fixture. The Baggies are a 3/1 shot to pull this one off in front of their home fans.

Spurs take on Newcastle in what looks to be a fascinating affair. It will be interesting to see whether Newcastle maintain their swagger from last year and just how Tottenham will fare without Luka Modric around.

While United are favoured to get the better of Everton, the really interesting story is the fact that the bookmakers have seen fit to trim their price for the title – indicating confidence in Robin Van Persie's ability to perform.
