WILLIAM HILL KENTUCKY DERBY 24 HOUR UPDATE!

The odds are finally starting to solidify as we are now just a mere 24 hours away from the most exciting two minutes in sports- the Kentucky Derby. Hot favourite I Want Revenge is listed at the top of the picks carrying a price of 3/1. Re-read some of my other Kentucky Derby articles if you want to know my opinion on him, but I don't think he's as hot a favourite as many say he is.Conditions on the ground will be an issue, if the weather forecast is anything to go by, and I can see this playing to Friesan Fire's advantage as he won the Louisiana Derby in very similar conditions. He didn't dominate the race however, and it is a grade lower than I like to go by when I'm judging Derby form.I expected Dunkirk to be around 5/1 at this point and that's right where the bookies have him. A lot of casual observers are getting behind him and I'm getting the sensation that he's a hype-horse. Lots of potential, but when will he actually win something? A horse that didn't run as a two year-old hasn't won the Derby in something like 120 years and if you think Dunkirk is the one to turn that around, you'd likely want longer odds. Pioneerof The Nile has been my pick since the Pamplemousse dropped out of the Derby. He completely sold me with his performance at the Santa Anita Derby, running one of the most solid races I've seen in my life. I'm piling onto Pioneerof The Nile and he is topping virtually all of my exotics as well. The race will be won by one of these three horses barring some type of accident or mistake. Most of the field can be written off for any serious contention aside from a select few. Papa Clem has been beaten by too many horses here to inspire any confidence, West Side Bernie is running from the #1 slot and I can't see him taking advantage of his position. For me, Musket Man is the longer-shot that I'm picking to show. An Illinois Derby victory means a Grade 2 win, that's enough for me to back a horse to finish third (or maybe even a squeaker second). When you think about it, that's what I Want Revenge has going for him. That's why I'm going Pioneerof The Nile all the way.
