WILLIAM HILL LINCOLN BETTING TIPS
The ante-post market is exploding for the William Hill Lincoln with the outright favourite, Expresso Star, dropping considerably within the last 72 hours and now sitting at 5/1. This American horse holds an excellent record of 3 wins from 6 career starts, all of which were coming on Flat Turf. He rolls into this race with three victories on the bounce against some very large fields. He conquered 10 others at Nottingham back on October 16th having just bested a field of 15 merely a week before. This is a horse in seriously good form and tends to win easily. In the October 16th race, however, he was under significant pressure from Suits Me and managed to hold strong the entire final furlong to eek out the victory. He's a good bet, this one, and he'll likely be able to do some damage if he gets out to an early lead. The value is starting to dry up and at 5/1 at this point, I expect him to shorten even more in the final week before the race. Another contender who's seen plenty of movement has been the 19/1-rated Charm School. This four year-old has had a relatively short career, and has been short of results in his past few races. In fact, he's only recorded a victory once, when he won a Div II race at Doncaster on his first out. 10/1 without any recent victories just doesn't appeal to me. At 25/1 I'd talk about Charm School, but not at this price. A more appealing bet for some might be Fireside, also listed at 10/1. He's another four-year old without much experience but a whole lot of potential. He pulled off a victory in October 07 at Newmarket against a 14-strong field. However, he was completely exposed, finishing dead last in last year's 2000 Guineas race where Henrythenavigator claimed the big prize. Huzzah, Mangham and Swop all weigh in at 12/1 and they have some mixed results between them, combined with (like most horses in this race) a whole lot of potential. Having examined the records and the form of many contenders running for this one, I really can't back anybody but Expresso Star, even at 5/1. The horse simply looks to have outclassed the field already.
