William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase Betting Tips

The 2009 William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase at 2:40 at Cheltenham is probably one of the most difficult races in which to predict an outright winner. Currently, there is a four horse crop of favourites with little between them. Wichita Lineman, Can't Buy Time, Possol and Millenium Royal are all contesting for the position of outright favourite going into this race. Wichita Lineman is attractive, with a lifetime record of 2 wins and 1 second out of 3 chase races but the fact that so many of those wins have come with others closing that it makes it difficult to back the Jonjo O'Neill product as a definitive winner. Deposit between £10 and £100, make a win single bet and Blue Square will credit your account with a matched FREE BET up to £100!Can't Buy Time has been in solid form of late and while his lifetime record may not be particularly intimidating to the opposition, a victory at Sandowne in the totesport.com Masters Handicap Chase on January 31 makes him an attractive option. Even more attractive is his overall record in Chases with 7 top 3 finishes (including 4 wins) out of a mere 8 starts. His victories in the past year have been quite emphatic ones and I consider him a banker if he is in the lead halfway through. Possol, one of the few French representatives in this race doesn't boast a particularly intense win rate in Chases, but generally winds up finishing 2nd or 3rd. This is a competitive horse who is capable of so much more, but just can't seem to hold a lead going down the stretch. Possol will certainly factor into the equation, but up against the horses in this race I just can't see the win being a distinct possibility. Millenium Royal (which was a great name 9 years ago but is now the equivalent of calling your horse "Apartheid's Over") is fresh off a victory at Plumpton last month in the Weatherby's Bloodstock Insurance Novices Chase and only really pulled that one off towards the end. A solid lifetime record in Chases (3 wins, 1 second from 5 races) means that he is definitely in with a shout, but up against much younger and convincing opposition certainly makes it a bit more difficult for the Francophone. I think Millenium Royal still has a future ahead of him, but I don't see the victory happening here. Verdict: Can't Buy Time to win at 5/1 with Blue Square.
