WORLD CUP 2010 ENGLAND ODDS AND SPECIAL BETS
Plenty of interesting betting options are available for English fans looking to have a few cheeky bets on the World Cup- that finally kicks off at the end of this week! Popular UK bookmaker Blue Square has released a very interesting slate of betting odds for England’s performance in the world’s most popular sporting tournament.
England are priced at 9.0 to crash out of the 2010 World Cup in the group stages, a great bet for the pessimists, but not exactly the most quality odds considering the strength of their group. They are listed at 3.75 to exit the World Cup in the second round. If things go according to the odds, England will win their group and face Serbia in the second round. The idea of Wayne Rooney having to match up against Nemanja Vidic is a daunting one and it would be nice if England played an easier side. Either way, I think Serbia are a beatable side.
Should England go out in the quarter-final, you’re looking at 3.75 while a semi-final loss pays 4.5. Should England make it to the final and lose, they are priced at 7.0. England’s odds to win the 2010 World Cup are priced at 8.0. England to reach the final are a straight 4.0.
Engalnd’s odds to win the 2010 World Cup on penalties is a whopping 34.0. Should England make it to the final and keep a clean sheet- you’ve got a 9.0 price. Should England make it to the final and score in both halves, you’ve got a 15.0 payout while England are 13.0 to win to nil in the final. They are a solid 34.0 to come from behind and win in the 2010 World Cup Final.
Wayne Rooney is, unsurprisingly, the favoured selection for top team goalscorer with a 2.37 price. Frank Lampard is trading at a 5.5 margin and I think that’s because he will likely be taking the bulk of the penalties.
Peter Crouch is priced at 7.0 and that’s not a bad bet actually. I could see Crouchy running up the score against Algeria or Slovenia, but Crouch’s problem in International football is that his presence usually attracts too much referee attention and he doesn’t get the freedom he gets from Premiership referees. If this doesn’t work against him this time out, then he’s a great shout.
Steven Gerrard and Jermain Defoe are both trading at 15.0 margins while Joe Cole, James Milner and Aaron Lennon trade at 26.0. I think Defoe will be looking to make a real statement here as he missed out on the last World Cup in somewhat controversial circumstances.
