WORLD CUP 2010 GROUP B TIPS AND LATEST ODDS
It doesn’t come as a shock to see that Argentina are favoured to win World Cup 2010 Group B, despite the fact that this team of international superstars only qualified at the last minute- though it wasn’t quite as thin a margin as France. I think that Group B has a wide-open contest for that 2nd qualification spot and those looking to back South Korea will be getting a quality price.
Argentina are heavy 2/5 favourites to win the group while Nigeria are considered the second favourites at 9/2. Nigeria have been a bit underwhelming in International competition for a while and with Jon Obi Mikel out, they will lack a bit of steel in the middle of the park (although they will probably get less red cards). Speaking of underwhelming, Greece are trading at 8/1 to win the group but they are very competitive to finish second place.
I think South Korea at 9/1 is an appropriate price, but I actually rate them higher than Nigeria and Greece. I don’t see them beating out Lionel Messi & Co. but I do think they will give the other two sides a game and have no excuse not to win.
The qualification market is a bit more interesting with Argentina understandably trading at a slim 1/9 price while Nigeria are odds-on at 19/20. That’s a bit too short for me and I’m preferring South Korea at 23/10- that’s a bit more like it. Greece is trading at 7/5 but I think they will need a near perfect performance to get out of the group. North Korea gave them a hard time in a friendly so I am anxious to see how they fare against South Korea.
South Korea are favoured to finish bottom at 6/5 with Greece at 15/8 and Nigeria at 11/4. Argentina to have a nightmare and finish bottom are a lengthy 18/1.
The group forecast market looks interesting and I really like Argentina/South Korea at 7/2. Argentina/Nigeria is the favoured outcome at 13/10 while Argentina/Greece is at 19/10.
Group B to produce the tournament winner is trading with William Hill at a 6/1 price. That’s basically taking a .5 clip from Argentina’s price to win the 2010 World Cup as they are 13/2 in the tournament outright market.
